On the northwestern border of The Woodlands but still in Montgomery County lies the town of Magnolia. Beautiful horse farms and acreage neighborhoods can be found in Magnolia and many families from other parts of the greater Houston area are moving out this way to have a little more room and even keep horses if they want. It’s a short drive into The Woodlands for work and shopping and an easy commute to downtown.
A short history lesson… Montgomery County was the third county formed under the Republic of Texas and it is believed to be the birthplace of the Texas Lone Star Flag. The Republic of Texas was a soverign state that existed from 1836 to 1845 formed as a break-away republic from Mexico as a result of the Texas Revolution.
Magnolia is a small town that has a big impact. The town itself is only one square mile within the city limits and has just 1,100 official residents but the Magnolia Independent School District is the second fastest growing in the State of Texas. Over 8,000 students attend the two high schools, four intermediate and seven elementary schools. That represents about a 7 to 10 percent growth per year over the past five years.
